She didn’t need financial support, she wanted to be spoiled with loyalty. She didn’t require approvals, she demanded respect. She didn’t aim for perfection, she needed to be accepted with those flaws. She didn’t want to be loved like those delicate petals, she wanted to be loved for her thorns because that is when she knew, she was loved as a whole.
This made-in-heaven mul cotton block-printed beauty of a saree in red and white takes your breath away!
This is a made-in-heaven mul cotton, block-printed saree.
Block printing, an age-old printing technique, is a process of printing designs on a base fabric using wooden stamps dipped in dye. The intricately carved stamps are a wonder by themselves and there are separate sects of craftsmen who specialise in this. The wooden blocks are seasoned, and used to bring beautiful prints alive on the fabric by skilled artisans. The block-printing for this blouse is done on a mul cotton fabric which is that is soft, comfortable and a favourite with our Queens.
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in many parts of India as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft, flowy and delicately beautiful. This fine 100% cotton weave of a fabric is extremely fluid! It is also very light and feels like second skin. It is very practical as summer attire and dries easily in monsoons as well! With the right care, it becomes softer and softer with every wash and truly feels like a hug that wraps you in its love!
