Of course, she’s draped in pink. It’s an ode to Jaipur – the pink city. The soft, almost fragile Mul she is donning, covers her like a quintessential queen’s grace and poise.
But Jaipur is a city of vivid colours, Havelis, festivals, textiles and so much laughter. She feels she has no limits here. No filter. No class. No poise. No decorum. Just fun. And when you point out to her that she’s still all those things, she looks at you with a glint in her eyes that says, ‘Thank you so much, but I’d like to drop them once in a while!’ And then she laughs with a gay abandon. She loves the embellished dressing style of the women in the city. Taking a cue, she wears a piece of sparkle on her hand, almost in defiance.
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!
